My Gold

Award Project

Hi! My name is Justine and I am a Girl Scout Ambassador. I have been in Girl Scouts since Kindergarten where I began my journey as a Daisy, and am now a Senior in high school. I have earned both my Bronze and Silver Awards, and through this website, I am working towards my Gold Award!

I stumbled upon the idea for this project while at my high school’s career fair. Sitting in the auditorium of my school, I realized how many careers I didn’t know existed despite my own knowledge of various professions from family and friends. I started thinking about how there were girls with less exposure than I who may not know of all the career opportunities that exist. That is when I thought of my project, “A Girl’s Guide to Careers.” The goal of my project is to inform young girls about a few of the professions that are available in the world today. My hope is that my project will mimic the career fair experience I received for young girls who may not have the same resources I had. I hope the interviews on this website inspire girls to set career goals for themselves, and provide them with the tools necessary to do so.

The Girl Scout Gold Award

The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. It recognizes girls in Grades 9 through 12 who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through “Take Action” service projects that have sustainable impact in their communities and beyond. Since 1916, remarkable girls have successfully answered the call to “Go Gold!” -- an action that indelibly marks them as accomplished members of not only their communities but also the world. Less than 6% of Girl Scouts nationally earn the Gold Award, which requires at least 80 hours of dedicated time to their projects.
